Siemens offers free EV charging to German employees

Siemens

Employees of electronics giant Siemens at 100 of the company’s locations in Germany will be able to recharge their EVs free of charge in 2017, using the company’s existing network of charging stations.

The charging stations are equipped with smart charging technology and Siemens software that integrates metering, billing and user identification.

Employees and family members will be able to initiate charging using only their Siemens ID cards. In the future, the company hopes to link the charging stations via an international network so that employees can use their ID cards to charge outside Germany as well.

Charging will be free in 2017. Siemens will decide on future electricity pricing from year to year.
