Last week we chided Scania for announcing what seemed like lukewarm lip service to expanding its European electric truck production. But the latest news is much more than talk: Scania will deliver 105 electric trucks to Swedish chemical supplier Wibax.
The exclusive agreement, which also includes maintenance, charging solutions and digital services, will run for five years. Wibax plans to electrify its trucking operations in both Sweden and Finland, and eventually aims to switch to a fully electrified fleet.
Wibax has been working with Scania on electrification since 2021.

A key part of Wibax’s electrification strategy is data-driven planning and monitoring. The company expects to be able to analyze driving patterns, route planning and energy consumption, enabling it to electrify its fleet in the most efficient way.
“We want to electrify our heavy vehicle fleet quickly, and with Scania we can bring in the new technology as soon as possible, so that we reach electrification within the timetable we have set,” says Wibax Chief Logistics Officer Magnus Sundström.
“Scania is a good, stable partner that we have a history with, which matters given the scale of the deal,” says Jonas Wiklund, CEO of Wibax. “We are convinced this will give us a commercial advantage through lower overheads over the long term. That allows us to offer our customers a more sustainable and affordable product.”
