New fast charger network creates EV corridor in central England

The English city of Milton Keynes has launched a network of fast chargers, creating a corridor of charging points across the center of the country. The Milton Keynes Crosslink consists of 14 triplex rapid chargers, each capable of charging an EV in around 20 minutes, located in and around Cambridge, Bedford, Milton Keynes, Buckingham and Oxford.

The fast chargers are operated by Chargemaster (which runs a network of 170 chargers in the region), and can be accessed via the company’s POLAR network, using an RFID card or smartphone app.

“These charge points are the first of their kind in England, able to rapidly recharge a wide range of plug-in vehicles,” said Transport Minister Baroness Kramer. “The Government is committed to making the UK a leading market for ultra-low-emission vehicles, and putting in place versatile and accessible infrastructure like this is an important part of making this happen.”
