California truck dealer adds Nikola battery-electric semi-trucks to EV lineup

Southern California-based Tom’s Truck Center offers a variety of EV models, including GreenPower EV Star Cargo vans, Ford E-Transit vans, and REE EV Platforms.

Now the dealership has added the Nikola Tre Class 8 battery-electric truck to its lineup. The Tre is now available for sale at Tom’s two locations in Santa Ana and Santa Fe Springs. The Nikola Tre BEV has an estimated range of up to 330 miles.

Tom’s hopes to add the Nikola Tre fuel cell vehicle to its offerings by the end of the year. It also plans to add EVs from Hino and Isuzu next year.

DC fast chargers are available at both Tom’s Truck Center locations.

“We are dedicated to supporting the transition to zero-emission vehicles in the commercial truck space,” said Tom’s Truck Center CEO KC Heidler. “We have already seen robust sales of the new Nikola trucks; we completed our first 14 BEV sales last month, which are expected to take delivery in May, and are on track for even more in the coming months.”

California’s Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP) provides point-of-sale vouchers to make EVs more affordable. According to Tom’s, with a BEV voucher valued between $120,000 and $186,000, a customer can buy an EV for approximately the same purchase price as a diesel truck. Tom’s team members work closely with HVIP and other incentive partners to help customers access all available incentives for vehicles and charging infrastructure.
