BMW i Ventures has co-led startup DeepDrive’s $16.1 million Series A e-motor deal. UVC Partners and Bayern Kapital participated alongside Wachstumsfonds Bayern and Continental’s Corporate Venture Capital Unit.
DeepDrive’s radial flux dual-rotor electric motor can be placed as a central drive or in-wheel drive in any vehicle. According to the startup, the patented method boosts vehicle range and torque density, along with reducing manufacturing cost and natural resource use. DeepDrive says it is partnering with eight of the top ten OEMs to produce the technology by 2026.
“The highly efficient e-motors offer major advantages in terms of weight, cost and space,” said Marcus Behrendt, MD at BMW i Ventures. “They enable the next generation of efficient and resource-saving EVs. DeepDrive’s e-motor technology is designed for easy and cost-effective mass production.”
