Spanish bus manufacturer Irizar introduced its new Irizar ie electric truck at the recent Sustainable Urban Mobility Congress in Bilbao, Spain. The showcased model is 8 meters long (26 feet) and has a carrying capacity of 18 tons.
Irizar designed the ie truck for industrial use in urban and inter-urban settings. It says varying body styles can be installed with little adaptation.
Irizar partnered on the R&D with the FCC Group, a Spanish construction and environmental services company. Together, the two firms produced a prototype vehicle equipped with side-loading bodywork for waste collection, which Irizar hopes to introduce into the market in the coming months. Irizar says it’s currently developing more variations of the electric model.
The ie truck features regenerative braking and a CNG range extender. It also includes a lane departure warning system (LDWS) and emergency assisted braking (AEBS).
