Kia plans electric Soul for 2014

Yet another automaker is going electric. Kia Motors America (KMA) has announced plans to offer an all-electric version of the highly popular Soul “urban passenger vehicle” in select markets in 2014. All the company has to say at this point is that the EV will feature new styling cues aimed at improving aerodynamics and distinguishing it from non-electric Souls, and that more details will be announced at an upcoming major US auto show.

Speaking at the media launch of the 2014 Soul, Orth Hedrick, KMA’s executive director of product planning, said, “Eco-consciousness already comes standard on the all-new Soul with 85-percent of its materials able to be recycled at the end of its lifespan, and the Soul EV will further demonstrate Kia’s engineering capabilities as well as our commitment to producing vehicles with reduced environmental footprints.”
