Nexperia to manufacture next-gen power MOSFETs at Polar Semiconductor’s Minnesota foundry

Nexperia and Polar Semiconductor have announced a manufacturing collaboration under which Nexperia’s next-generation power MOSFETs will be produced at Polar’s wafer foundry in Bloomington, Minnesota. The partnership aims to secure stable US-based supply capacity for Nexperia’s MOSFET portfolio across automotive, AI server infrastructure, robotics and industrial applications.

Polar’s Minnesota facility is an IATF-16949 certified high-volume fab. The company has more than six decades of semiconductor manufacturing experience and 25-plus years specifically in automotive production.

Nexperia, headquartered in Nijmegen, Netherlands, ships more than 100 billion semiconductor components annually.

Under the collaboration, Nexperia is developing a portfolio of power MOSFETs spanning a wide range of voltage classes and package types—including its copper-clip LFPAK and CCPAK packages and the MLPAK package, which the company has used to improve electrical performance, thermal efficiency and ruggedness.

“This collaboration is an important step in strengthening Nexperia’s long-term manufacturing and supply-chain strategy,” said Stefan Tilger, interim CEO of Nexperia. “By working closely with Polar Semiconductor, we are securing reliable capacity and providing our customers with a strong, stable, and resilient supply foundation.”
