Kempower earns ETL certification, will begin production of EV charging stations in North America

Kempower, a manufacturer of DC fast charging solutions for EVs, has earned Electrical Testing Laboratories certification from Intertek Testing Laboratories, allowing production to begin at the company’s new production facility in North Carolina.

The ETL Listed Marking is a certified indicator to retailers and distributors, that Kempower’s satellite charging systems have been tested by Intertek and found to be in compliance with accepted national standards.

Kempower established its North America site in Durham, North Carolina in early 2023—it was partially funded by a state Job Development Investment Grant. The company is now producing NEVI-compliant DC fast chargers in step with The NCDOT’s NEVI plan.

“This is a major milestone for our company, specifically for production that can now officially take place here at our production site in Durham,” said Tim Joyce, President of Kempower North America. “ETL certification gives Kempower authorization to produce and ship complete charging stations from our new facility, opening the door for large-scale mass production and distribution. This seal is an indicator that Kempower products are safe to sell all across North America.”

“Now that the ETL certification is in place, we are preparing for an influx in preorders for 2024 as we increase our product availability, waith a target to match current production levels at our flagship headquarters in Lahti, Finland, from which Kempower delivered approximately 10,000 charging points in 2022,” said Marcus Suvanto, Director Operations & Business Development, Kempower North America.
