Falken’s new Ecorun tire to improve efficiency of hybrid vehicles

Falken Tire Europe, the European affiliate of the Japanese tire manufacturer Sumitomo Rubber, has launched a new summer tire with optimized rolling resistance.

The new Ecorun A-A is designed to save fuel and offer good braking performance in wet conditions. Falken used its 4D Nano Design to develop a tire compound that delivers exceptional performance in fuel efficiency, wet grip and mileage. The Ecorun A-A is made from ultra-refined natural pure rubber; the compound cuts heat build-up and rolling resistance, and thus extends tire life.

Falken recommends its new tire for hybrid vehicles. Under an exclusive partnership with Toyota for the replacement market, it will be available from April from Toyota dealers in Germany, initially in size 195/65R15 91H for Prius III hybrids.

“We are well aware that sustainability and wear reduction are central concerns for all manufacturers,” says Andreas Giese, Manager of Product Planning at Falken Tyre Europe. “Given this, we are all the prouder that we can now work with Toyota, the market leader for hybrid vehicles, to grow this trend together.”
