German logistics service provider Dachser has signed a letter of intent to add 50 Mercedes-Benz eActros LongHaul electric trucks to its European fleet. The e-truck, with a range of around 500 km (310 miles), is expected to be ready for series production by 2024.
Dachser has been using EVs such as the FUSO eCanter and eActros since 2018 in eleven European cities. The company is now planning to utilize a similar strategy for long-distance deliveries.
“This Letter of intent underlines our commitment to the development and testing of environmentally friendly commercial vehicle drives,” said Alexander Tonn, COO of Road Logistics at Dachser. “The long range of the eActros LongHaul will enable us to transport goods between our European locations without emissions, even in heavy payload traffic and in long-haul transport.”
