bp invests €7.5 million in Service4Charger

As part of a €10-million Series A funding round, bp ventures has invested €7.5 million in Germany-based EV charging infrastructure service provider Service4Charger. Completing the round with an investment of €2.5 million was Smart Energy Innovationsfonds, an arm of Swiss energy company Energie 360°.

Through its staff of in-house-trained electrical engineers, Service4Charger offers EV charging infrastructure planning, installation, operation and maintenance in 25 cities throughout Germany, where bp’s e-mobility business operates under the Aral pulse brand.

bp operates around 1,500 fast charging points across the country and has signed an agreement with Service4Charger to add several thousand more over the next few years.

“As bp pulse rolls out EV charging it is essential that we have the right skill sets and expertise to make charging installations an efficient process and to service our growing network of EV charge points,” said bp Vice President Gareth Burns.
