According to XING Mobility, European shipowners are facing mounting pressure from EU Emissions Trading System and FuelEU Maritime regulations, and marine battery-electric propulsion has largely been limited by power, space and safety constraints.
To address these issues, XING has launched the IMMERSIO Matrix, a purpose-built marine battery system that uses dielectric immersion cooling.
Every cell is fully submerged in dielectric coolant, which absorbs heat at the source, suppresses thermal runaway and eliminates cell-to-cell propagation. Air-cooled and cold-plate-cooled designs manage heat at the module or pack level.
The system is already on the water. XING’s battery is powering the zero-emission Porrima P111 vessel in Taiwan, and was integrated into Austrian electric-boating company Smart IQ’s latest vessel.
“Our mission has always been to bring disruptive battery solutions to the most extreme environments,” said Royce Hong, founder and CEO of XING Mobility. “Maritime electrification faces dual challenges in safety and space. Our battery architecture ensures shipowners never have to compromise performance for safety.”
