French industrial minerals company Imerys and its subsidiary Carbon Switzerland, which supplies conductive additives for lithium-ion batteries, have signed a strategic partnership deal with Shanghai Shanshan New Material to produce high-performance synthetic graphite anode materials in Europe.
This partnership combines Shanshan’s anode production technology with Imerys’s graphite expertise, and will focus on optimizing products and production to deliver a secure and sustainable local supply of synthetic graphite anode materials.
The companies plan to launch commercial-scale products starting in the fourth quarter of 2025.
“Imerys, as a century-old industry giant, has high-quality mineral resources throughout Europe, a mature localized supply chain and high value-added technology advantages, which is the key support for Shanshan to accelerate the promotion of Europe’s ‘technology + localization’ strategy and build a stable and efficient supply chain,” said XiaoYang Ding, Executive General Manager of Shanghai Shanshan New Material.
