Aggregates producer CRH to test Caterpillar’s electric off-highway trucks and charging solutions

Yellow-machine icon Caterpillar has signed an electrification strategic agreement with building materials firm CRH, a major North American producer of aggregates, to advance the deployment of Caterpillar’s zero-emission off-road vehicles.

CRH will participate in Caterpillar’s Early Learner program, testing and validating 70- to 100-ton-class battery-electric off-highway trucks and charging solutions in real-world applications. CRH will provide customer feedback to address safety, performance, operational and compliance requirements for the aggregates industry.

Executives from CRH sign the agreement with Caterpillar Group President Denise Johnson at the company’s headquarters in Irving, Texas.

“We are pleased to work with CRH, as our first aggregates industry customer, to expand our electrification solutions beyond mining,” said Resource Industries Group President Denise Johnson. “When it comes to sustainability, the quarry and aggregates industry requires diverse solutions. Our collaboration with CRH is an opportunity to gain valuable insights into how our products can best support CRH’s long-term objectives to decarbonize its operations.”
