SERMA Group expands electronics testing labs into the US with acquisition of Microtech Laboratories

The SERMA Group has expanded into the North American market with the acquisition of Microtech Laboratories, an electronics and semiconductor analysis laboratory based in Plano, Texas.

Microtech is an independent laboratory specializing in failure analysis and reverse engineering of semiconductors. The company, which has 15 employees and mainly serves North American customers in industry and the legal sector, offers a wide range of services such as decapsulation or micro sectioning, reverse engineering, schematic extraction, failure analysis and construction of electronic components and printed circuits, as well as associated consulting and training.

SERMA Group subsidiary SERMA Technologies operates 6 laboratories in France, where it offers analysis, design and consulting services to some 600 European customers. The acquisition of Microtech will enable SERMA to extend its offerings to a new geographic market. It also gives Microtech the opportunity to expand its services, and to offer its reverse engineering and schematic extraction services in Europe.

SERMA aims to become a major local player in the field of electronic analysis laboratories, and later to develop its other businesses: engineering, development and repair of embedded systems; microelectronics design and assembly; and characterization and testing of energy systems.
