Jaguar Land Rover will electrify all its vehicles from 2020

Jaguar Land Rover has become the second legacy automaker (after Volvo) to announce that it will soon add electrification to all its vehicles.

“Every new Jaguar Land Rover model line will be electrified from 2020, giving our customers even more choice,” said CEO Dr. Ralf Speth at the company’s inaugural Tech Fest, a public exhibition about the future of mobility. “We will introduce a portfolio of electrified products across our model range, embracing fully electric, plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid vehicles. Our first fully electric performance SUV, the Jaguar I-PACE, goes on sale next year.”

The I-PACE concept features over 500 km range (on the NEDC cycle), 50 kW DC fast charging and a 0-60 time of around four seconds. “With I-PACE we started with a clean sheet and engineered a bespoke, tailored, pure electric SUV from the ground up, creating a beautiful design with everyday practicality,” says Jaguar.

An electrified version of the E-type, which Enzo Ferrari famously called “the most beautiful car in the world,” is also in the works. The E-type Zero is based on a 1968 Series 1.5 Roadster and features “a cutting-edge electric powertrain for 0-60 mph in just 5.5 seconds.”
