FCL Components launches signal switching relays for EV battery controls

Japan-based FCL Components, which markets and distributes electronic and system components and sub-systems, has released a new series of signal-switching relays for power monitoring in EVs.

Conventional signal relays have often been used to switch signals for on-board charging equipment in EVs, but EV batteries typically use 300-400 VDC, which exceeds the expected usage range of many signal relays. FCL’s FTR-B3/FTR-B4/FTR-C1 signal relays are specialized for automotive signal switching and can operate at 1 mA 400 VDC. They are well suited to battery controller applications including battery monitoring, abnormal detection of overvoltage and overcurrent and leakage detection.

The lineup includes the small, low-profile FTR-B3, the small, slim FTR-B4 and the high insulation/wide gap FTR-C1 series.

FTR-B3/FTR-B4/FTR-C1 series relays are manufactured at a certified factory in compliance with IATF16949, an international standard for automotive management systems. They are UL and CSA-recognized and RoHS-compliant.

The series is part of the company’s work to expand its range of high-performance relays for in-vehicle equipment.
