UQM Technologies certified to sell electric powertrains in China

UQM Technologies PowerPhase

UQM Technologies (NYSE MKT: UQM) has achieved Chinese certification for its PowerPhase HD 250 electric propulsion system. After three months of testing, including system performance analysis for power and torque, vibration, salt spray and sealing performance and electrical testing, the Chinese authorities have approved the PowerPhase HD 250 for sale to vehicle manufacturers throughout China.

UQM’s PowerPhase HD 250 system is designed for heavy-duty drive applications such as transit buses, trucks and other commercial vehicles. It consists of a liquid-cooled permanent magnet motor and a high-power, liquid-cooled inverter with digital signal processor controller.

“We now have official endorsement from a major China certified laboratory that our electric propulsion system meets the strict standards that have been established, and this is an important step for our partners to achieve full vehicle level certification,” said UQM CEO Eric R. Ridenour. “This certification was mandatory to do business in China and the achievement helps us move closer to volume system sales in that key market.”
