Webasto to acquire AeroVironment’s Efficient Energy Systems for $35 million

Automotive supplier Webasto is set to acquire AeroVironment’s Efficient Energy Systems (EES) branch, pending several more heaps of paperwork. The $35-million acquisition includes EES’s charging and docking technologies, further diversifying Webasto’s portfolio.  Webasto originally specialized in heating, cooling and sunroof design for automotive applications, but it has been steadily working to expand into the EV energy solution market. As for the human aspect of this acquisition, Webasto will retain all of EES’s previous employees.

“This strategic acquisition accelerates the global development of our charging business. Combining EES’s fundamental know-how in electric vehicle technology with our position as a global systems partner to almost all OEMs emphasizes the long-term strategic development of the Webasto Group,” says Management Chairman Holger Engelmann.
