Volvo has released a series of 10 videos guaranteed to raise an EV geek’s pulse rate to 400 volts. Much more than a typical promo video, this set of clips amounts to a mini-documentary covering every aspect of the C30’s development and testing, including batteries, motor, software and safety features. There’s a wealth of technical detail as well as lots of cool snowy-test-track and crash-test shots.

The EV model of Volvo’s popular two-door compact has been in production since June, and a limited number are now silently cruising the snowy Swedish streets. It has a 24kwh lithium-ion battery pack and a 111hp motor that give it a 93-mile range and an electronically-limited top speed of 80 mph.

These videos make it clear that Volvo’s EVs are subjected to the same rigorous testing as their oil burners. As a spokesman summed it up in his delicious accent, “Volvo demands all our vehicles must meet all our standards regarding safety, comfort, versatility and practicality. In other words, no compromise for the customer.”
