Following the departure of two top manufacturing executives, Tesla Motors has hired Peter Hochholdinger, a 22-year veteran of Audi who oversaw the production of the company’s A4, A5 and Q5 models. Mr. Hochholdinger was also involved in bringing Audi’s new Mexican production facility online.
Hochholdinger will be Tesla’s new VP of Vehicle Production, replacing Greg Reichow, who is taking a leave of absence for “a well-deserved break.”
“Peter will be responsible for continuing to increase and improve Model S and Model X production, as well as help build a scalable, cost-effective and quality manufacturing program specifically designed for Model 3,” said Tesla in a press release.
One of the new VP’s pressing tasks will be to get Tesla’s Fremont assembly plant geared up for high-volume production of Model 3.
