San Diego Gas & Electric to invest in EV education along with charging station initiative

KIA Soul EV Eaton Charging 2 (CHARGED Ev)

San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) plans to invest $7.5 million over the next five years in an education campaign to complement its recently approved $45-million charging station pilot.

SDG&E will be installing 3,500 charging stations at 350 local businesses and apartment communities. At least 10% of the chargers will be in disadvantaged neighborhoods.

The education campaign will include EV ride-and-drive events at various locations throughout SDG&E’s service area, where customers will be able to test-drive EVs from the major automakers. The campaign will also provide funding to community groups to promote EVs.
