Swiss Post deploys Kempower charging stations for electric buses and trucks

Swiss Post has commissioned a Kempower DC fast charging system at its new logistics center in Villmergen—an important step for the ongoing electrification of the company’s vehicle fleet.

Jebsen & Jessen, an official distribution partner of Kempower in Switzerland, supplied the technology, and utility company Repower was responsible for the planning, installation and commissioning of the charging infrastructure.

A total of 16 charging points are now in service at the logistics center, including 14 Kempower Control Units equipped with 14 Kempower Cable Arms, and two Kempower Liquid-Cooled Satellites for high-power fast charging.

Swiss Post can charge both buses and trucks at the stations, thanks to the flexibility and scalability of the Kempower system. (Swiss Post doesn’t just deliver mail—its fleet of around 2,400 iconic yellow Postauto buses provide public transport in corners of the country not served by rail.)

Dynamic power distribution ensures that buses and trucks are always charged according to demand, and are ready for operation when needed.

“The installation of the new Kempower charging infrastructure in Villmergen went smoothly and on schedule,” said Karl Klaus, Real Estate Project Manager at Swiss Post. “The technology impresses with its high reliability and flexibility—exactly what we need for the daily operation of our e-trucks and e-buses.”
