Jacobs, a US-headquartered technical professional services company, is collaborating with US battery recycling company Cirba Solutions to expand its North American manufacturing capacity for EV battery materials. The goal is to promote a circular, more sustainable EV supply chain.
Jacobs is managing facility design and supporting construction at multiple Cirba locations, including its Lancaster, Ohio, lithium-ion processing site. The expansion project there is estimated to cost $200 million and has been granted $82 million by the DOE.
“Jacobs has experience in EV manufacturing and transit decarbonization, supporting clients globally. However, a more circular and sustainable battery supply chain will be critical if EVs are to truly decarbonize our transportation sector in North America,” said Jacobs Senior VP Koti Vadlamudi. “Cirba Solutions’ expansion increases capacity in the US and promotes circularity.”
