Range Rover to offer plug-in hybrid in model year 2019

Jaguar Land Rover, which recently announced that it will add electrification to all its vehicles by 2020, has now released a few details of its first PHEV, which it plans to offer as a 2019 model.

The Range Rover P400e combines a 296 hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder Ingenium gasoline engine with a 114 hp (85 kW) electric motor. The powertrain features permanent four-wheel drive, and offers 398 hp total power, 472 lb-ft of torque, and an electric range of up to 31 miles. The 0-60 time is 6.4 seconds and the maximum speed is 137 mph.

The gas engine is longitudinally mounted, and the electric motor is housed in the eight-speed transmission at the center of the vehicle, alongside the 7 kW onboard charger. The prismatic-cell lithium-ion battery is mounted at the rear, beneath the trunk floor.
