Nissan offering $10,000 discount on LEAFs

Nissa Leaf

With the next-generation LEAF expected to go on sale this fall, Nissan is ready to make deals to clear out the old models. The company has announced discounts of $10,000 on 2016 and 2017 LEAFs for certain buyers.

The deal is available to customers and employees of certain electric utilities in several states, including Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida (customers of Duke Energy, which covers much of the Sunshine State, are eligible).

For buyers  who can take advantage of the $7,500 federal tax credit, this could bring the effective price of a basic LEAF down to 12 or 13 grand – almost as cheap as a used one.

The vehicle must be bought from dealer stock, and the deal can’t be combined with other Nissan discounts or special financing offers. Nissan says the offer is valid through June 30.
