Rivian Upfit Program offers custom EV solutions for fleets

Shortly after announcing that it would make its electric delivery vans—originally developed in collaboration with Amazon—available to all commercial fleets, Rivian has launched the new Rivian Upfit Program for fleet customers.

Upfitting is the process of customizing a chassis to create a specialized vehicle for a customer. Unlike in the consumer vehicle sphere, commercial vehicle OEMs sell generic chassis/cabs, and third-party upfitters convert them to work trucks, ambulances, refuse trucks, or whatever is required.

Rivian uses a direct-to-consumer model, but its Upfit Program is designed to simplify the ordering process and deliver an experience akin to what fleet managers would expect from a dealership. Rivian has launched the program in partnership with commercial vehicle providers Ranger Design, Sortimo, Bush Specialty Vehicles, Holman, Legend and EV Sportline.

Rivian’s R1T, R1S and delivery van are all available for upfitting under the program.
