Tritium’s new TRI-FLEX EV charging platform is designed to scale up as charging needs grow

DC fast charger manufacturer Tritium unveiled its new TRI-FLEX charging platform at the recent ACT Expo 2025 in California. The platform features a distributed architecture that enables charge point operators to scale from 4 up to 64 charge points easily.

The platform is designed to allow charging operators to start with what they need today and seamlessly scale as demand increases. TRI-FLEX also supports integration with battery energy storage systems and renewable energy sources.

“TRI-FLEX is not just an incremental improvement but a fundamental reimagining of distributed charging architecture designed to scale efficiently at the speed of coming demand in the market,” said Arcady Sosinov, Tritium’s CEO.

Key features of the TRI-FLEX platform:

  • The TRI-FLEX Hub, is a power conversion system that can scale from 400 kW to 1.6 MW of AC power and up to 3.2 MW of DC power.
  • A single Hub can power 2 to 32 TRI-FLEX dispensers (up to 64 charge points).
  • Customers can mix and match 100 kW, 200 kW and 400 kW dispensers in a single system, creating the ideal configuration for their customer needs—from passenger cars to commercial trucks.
  • The system’s 25 kW power resolution with real-time load balancing ensures optimal energy distribution, maximizing efficiency and throughput.
  • Full IP65 environmental rating and liquid cooling maintain reliable performance from Arctic cold (-35° C) to desert heat (+55° C).

“The EV revolution will move at the speed of its infrastructure,” Sosinov said. “TRI-FLEX removes critical barriers to widespread adoption by enabling phased deployment strategies that align capital expenditure with actual utilization, simplifying permitting processes and maximizing return on investment.”

What about the new Megawatt Charging System standard? Sosinov clarified: “TRI-FLEX is MCS-capable, but due to the limited number of MCS-capable vehicles registered globally, our customers serving heavy-duty vehicles will have access to a 640 kW dispenser, and we will release an MCS dispenser when there is sufficient demand in the market.”
