Motiv delivers first of seven electric step vans to USPS

Automotive provider Motiv Power Systems has delivered the first of seven electric step vans to the US Postal Service. The Ford E-450-based vans will serve a year-long pilot program in California’s Central Valley. The first vehicle will serve routes in Fresno, and the rest with be deployed in both Fresno and Stockton.

The step vans are built on Motiv’s electric powered intelligent chassis (EPIC), which the company claims can save fuel and maintenance costs to reduce total cost of ownership.

“We’re proud to now be a part of USPS’s long tradition of implementing the latest technology to green their fleet,” said Motiv CEO Jim Castelaz. “Our all-electric EPIC chassis have accumulated 500,000 real-world miles and are ideally suited to the USPS vehicle route characteristics.”
