Chicago Transit Authority to use ViriCiti’s monitoring system for its 23 electric buses

ViriCiti, founded in 2012, makes a fleet monitoring system focused on electric buses and trucks. The system is designed to give fleet operators a real-time overview of the status, state of charge, range and location of their vehicles, and to help train drivers to maximize range and efficiency. The company says it’s working with over 200 OEMs and fleet operators in the US and Europe, and has over 3,500 buses and chargers connected to its platform.

ViriCiti’s newest customer is the Chicago Transit Authority, which will use the company’s system to monitor its new fleet of 23 e-buses, including six Proterra buses that are already in service.

CTA is one of the largest public transit operators in the US, with a fleet of over 2,000 buses, and it aims to have a fully electric fleet by 2040.

ViriCiti’s current customers include New York’s MTA, the Los Angeles DOT and the Toronto Transit Authority.

“We’re proud to help CTA monitor their electric fleet. As one of the largest transit operators in the USA, CTA makes an important statement for the future of clean transportation, and we’re happy to be a part of this transition,” said Trishan Peruma, ViriCiti’s Head of Business Development for North America.
