Pre-Switch claims 98.5% efficiency for reference inverter

Power architecture developer Pre-Switch has announced test results of its CleanWave2 reference inverter at 100 kHz switching speed that show 98.5% efficiency at 5% load and peak efficiency of 99.57%.

According to the company, its architecture, efficient at both low load and full load, eliminates switching losses and enables 10 times higher switching frequencies, resulting in gains that lead to greater motor efficiency and improved EV range.

The architecture’s topology is a variation of the auxiliary resonant commutated pole soft-switching converter design, which employs embedded artificial intelligence to solve switching system timing calculations dynamically. The company says this results in accurate soft-switching under changing input voltage, output load, device tolerances and temperature changes.
