Houston-based renewable energy company Octopus Energy has introduced a home energy program with California-headquartered EV maker Rivian. 

All Rivian customers in those parts of Texas where Octopus is an eligible energy provider will be offered a time-of-use energy rate plan with an overnight off-peak discount of up to 50%.

“Demand flexibility is the key to a cleaner, more affordable and sustainable energy future,” said Michael Lee, CEO of Octopus Energy. The new plan will encourage charging from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. to help ease demand on the grid. It features a $150 Octopus bill credit after 90 days.

The company also offers its Intelligent Octopus platform that automates customers’ energy usage to provide the cheapest energy rates for connected compatible smart devices, such as smart thermostats or EV chargers.
