TerraE forms consortium to build large-scale Li-ion battery manufacturing capacity in Germany

Li-ion Batteries 18650 - Pouch Cell (Charged EVs)

Germany-based TerraE Holding has organized 17 companies and research institutions into a consortium to plan for large-scale lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing in Germany. The goal is to gradually build up production capacities to 34 GWh/year by the year 2028.

The consortium includes companies from throughout the supply chain: infrastructure manufacturing planners, material producers, machine engineering companies, cell manufacturers, and industrial consumers.

Large-scale series production is to be established at two locations in Germany. TerraE will build and operate the factories, and cell customers will be able to have products produced to their specifications.

TerraE is also beginning discussions with potential customers and investors in the industrial, energy storage and electromobility fields who desire a German cell supplier.
