Scandinavian charging network operator Fortum Charge & Drive is collaborating with Swedish electricity company Jönköping Energi to install 30 public charging stations in the city of Jönköping.
The project will begin this fall, and is expected to last two years. Jönköping Energi will own and manage the stations, which will be linked to the 600-station Charge & Drive Nordic network.
“We are initially concentrating the public charging stations to high-use areas in Jönköping. Other business opportunities will also be available for businesses, associations and individuals who want to provide and own their own charging stations,” says Project Manager Erik Wiström, Jönköping Energi.
“Jönköping’s geographical location [at the junction of major highways linking Copenhagen, Gothenburg and Stockholm] gives us the opportunity to assist the many owners of electric vehicles who want to drive longer distances in a climate-friendly way,” says Fridolf Eskilsson, CEO of Jönköping Energi.
