EVBox customizes its commercial charging solution for the US market

Europe-based charging station manufacturer EVBox unveiled a new Level 2 charging station for the North American market at the recent CES in Las Vegas.

In order to design its new charger, EVBox embarked on an extensive research trip to California, where it gathered input from EV drivers, parking valets, facility managers, and installers. It found that charging habits, requirements, and expectations vary strongly between the US and Europe. Size is not as big of a concern as it is in Europe. In fact, larger stations are appreciated in the US, because visibility is important for commercial purposes. Charging is seen as a business opportunity in the US, where most charging stations are placed by private companies.

EVBox’s new charging station has a modern yet simple look that’s designed to easily blend into the environment. It uses a modular design to facilitate easy installation and scalability, and is highly customizable, allowing station owners to personalize their own branding.

Each station can charge up to four vehicles at the same time, at 7.4 kW. Features include smart cable management and a touchscreen display with NFC payment.

“Our goal was to create a charging station that makes the charging experience as convenient as possible for North American EV drivers,” said EVBox CEO Kristof Vereenooghe. “Earlier, we launched our new home charging station, Elvi, which is now a CES Innovation Award Honoree. This recognition confirms that we are on the right path, delivering solutions that meet and exceed our customers’ expectations.”

EVBox’s new Level 2 charger will be commercially available in North America at the beginning of 2019.
