The city of Montréal is installing 50 more on-street charging points for EVs, adding to 50 that were installed in the downtown area in August. The 100 terminals will now cover 7 districts. The city said it plans to have 1,000 stations in place by 2020.

Last June, the city adopted an electrification strategy for 2016-2020 that proposed 10 measures to create a favorable environment for innovation in transport and the transition to renewable energy.

“Our administration is betting on the electrification of transportation, with the aim of being the first electric city in North America,” said Montréal Mayor Denis Coderre.
