Illinois Tollway rolls out a fast-charging network

DC fast chargers went into service this week at four locations on the Illinois Tollway. The new charging stations, which can fill up an EV in under 30 minutes, are located at 7-Eleven stores at Tollway Oasis highway rest stops.

The new towers of power were funded by the Chicago-Area EV Infrastructure Project, which will eventually install a total of 73 fast chargers in Chicagoland. They were installed by JNS Power & Control Systems, and will be managed by 350Green.

“We want Illinois to be the greenest state in America,” Illinois Governor Pat Quinn Governor Quinn said. “By installing the largest network of cutting edge fast-chargers, Illinois will continue to support green jobs and provide people with environmentally-friendly and affordable travel options.”
