Through the FordPass Rewards program, F-150 Lightning buyers will receive 250 kilowatt-hours of complimentary charging at Electrify America, which currently has around 800 charging stations with 3,500 individual chargers in the US. (Mustang Mach-E buyers receive the same deal—250 kWh of free electrons.)
For Lightning owners with the standard-range battery, the 250 kWh is equal to nearly three fill-ups, or up to 575 miles of electric driving.
The F-150 Lightning with an extended-range battery can, depending on conditions, add up to 54 miles of range in approximately 10 minutes, and can charge from 15 percent to 80 percent in as little as 41 minutes.
The F-150 Lightning has proven to be more popular than Ford anticipated—reservations quickly reached 200,000, and Ford says 4,400 units have been sold to date.
“Electrifying the F-150, America’s best-selling vehicle, is a game-changer for bringing electric vehicles fully mainstream,” said Giovanni Palazzo, CEO of Electrify America. “We’re proud to have the F-150 Lightning and all Ford electric vehicles take advantage of Electrify America’s growing coast-to-coast ultra-fast charging network.”
