Charging station manufacturer Circontrol has launched a 100 kW fast charger. The new Raption 100 preserves the best features of its predecessor, the Raption 50, which was introduced 3 years ago and is one of the company’s best-selling charging stations. In 2019, the company sold over a thousand Raption 50 units worldwide.
The new Raption 100 charging station has double the charging power of the previous model, but maintains its compact external appearance. It’s intended for installations at locations where fast charges are needed, such as restaurants, gas stations, shopping centers, airports and highway rest stops. It features an 8-inch color touch screen, language selection, a courtesy light and an integrated contactless card payment system.
“The modular technology [of the earlier version] has been preserved and the power of the charging modules increased,” said Circontrol CEO Joan Hinojo. The Raption 100’s modular architecture allows for power scalability of 25, 50 or 100 kW, depending on the contracted power and the installation requirements. This allows a particular charger to be adapted to the growing battery sizes of new EV models, and also guarantees high uptime—if one of the modules fails, the others will keep working.
Also like the previous model, the Raption 100 can function as a Master at multi-point installations, combining DC and AC charging. In addition to minimizing initial investment and maintenance costs when several chargers are required, this solution enables energy savings, as the Master device distributes available power according to the number of charge points in use.
