ChargePoint has introduced a new addition to its line of EV charging stations. The Express 100 is a compact 24 kW DC fast charger aimed at businesses such as retail locations, restaurants and convenience stores.
Earlier this year, the company announced the Express 200, a 50 kW DC fast charger with a maximum charging rate of 200 miles of range per hour. In January, ChargePoint announced a partnership with Volkswagen and BMW to create Express corridors on the East and West Coasts. There are already 144 Express locations on the ChargePoint network.
Also this year, ChargePoint unveiled ChargePoint Home for single-family homes, and ChargePoint Multi-family Home Service for apartment and condo dwellers. ChargePoint’s mission is to offer an optimized charging solution for everywhere drivers go: home, work, around town and out of town.
The Express 100 is designed to isolate critical electronic components from the outside environment, increasing reliability and performance. It features remote diagnostic capabilities, enabling the ChargePoint Support team to instantly detect problems. Drivers can find charging stations and see their availability in real time at ChargePoint.com or with the ChargePoint mobile app. According to the company, the Express 100 is one of the lowest-cost DC fast chargers available.
“With Express charging, drivers can run errands, shop or stop for a cup of coffee while they quickly top off their battery to extend their car’s range,” said Pasquale Romano, ChargePoint’s CEO. “ChargePoint Express gives drivers range confidence, so they can depend on an EV as their only vehicle.”
