Canada approves Koben Systems’ GENIUS energy management system

Measurement Canada has approved revenue-grade metering for Koben Systems’ GENIUS, an energy management system for residential, retail and commercial sites.

GENIUS serves as a micro-grid controller that can integrate solar, battery storage, wind, generators and EV technology.

Replacing the conventional electrical panel, GENIUS enables control and monitoring of energy consumption for individual circuits. The panel includes hybrid smart switches capable of connecting and disconnecting automatically upon current overload, short circuits, sparks and overheating. GENIUS uses proprietary algorithms for real-time pricing, as well as time-of-use, single-rate or pre-paid billing and control and monitoring of all connected electrical circuits.

Koben founder and CEO Vic Burconak said, “GENIUS gives customers insight into how they can manage their energy use in a way that is going to help them the most. The ability to shift energy consumption away from peak periods does not just reduce costs for the consumer, it creates more demand for renewables, and is also increasing the reliability of the grid.”
