Ford's app keeps track of when local utilities switch to lower off-peak charging rates, and automatically starts charging at the lowest cost.
According to Reuters, about 350 Focus Electrics will be sent to 67 dealers in California, New Jersey and New York over the next couple of weeks.
Ford announced this week that the first 67 dealers are certified and ready to sell the 2012 Ford Focus Electric.
The new EV will be displayed in a ceremony at the Virginia State Capitol, and Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling will deliver it to Richmond International Raceway.
Ford’s goal is to reduce the weight of new cars and trucks by up to 750 pounds by the end of the decade, and carbon fiber components could be a big part of their strategy.
Ford and Yahoo! have announced a new reality competition series that will promote the launch of Ford’s new EV, the Focus Electric. The show will be broadcast on Yahoo!
