SAE hires contractor team for EV charging security research project

SAE International has announced an agreement with a contractor team, comprised of Eonti, DigiCert and VerSprite, to perform technical development of the SAE EV Charging Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) project, an industry-led research project aimed at strengthening EV charging system security. The PKI project was launched in May 2020.

With the contractor team onboard, technical work has begun to develop a secure EV charging industry PKI platform that is agnostic to charging systems and protocol standards. The project will use agile development practices to design and test the PKI solution in an 18-24 month schedule.
