Remy to supply motors for EchoDrive plug-in hybrid system

Echo Automotive (OTCQB: ECAU) has announced an agreement with Remy International to supply electric motors for Echo’s EchoDrive plug-in hybrid system, which is scheduled for production later this year.

“Remy has over 100,000 electric motors on the road with over 2 billion miles and over 10 years of electric traction motor production,” said Echo President Jason Plotke. “This supply agreement ensures that Echo can continue to incorporate the power and efficiency of Remy’s patented High Voltage Hairpin components into our EchoDrive system.”

The agreement also formalizes the development of the Echo Induction Machine, an induction motor system that features an integrated stator and rotor pairing and an optimized inverter control. According to Echo, the new system will offer a safer and more affordable alternative to other motor types in many light-to-medium-duty applications.

“The Echo development team understands the demands of their technologies and their uses, and is specifying proven components like our Remy motor that enhance the efficiency and robustness of EchoDrive,” said Remy CEO Jay Pittas. “The company clearly sees an opportunity to create new revenue streams by introducing their technologies to other OEMs and integrators.”
