VIA Motors has announced that John Weber, former CEO of motor manufacturer Remy, has been chosen as VIA’s new Chief Executive Officer.
“John’s many years of experience as an auto industry manufacturer and his keen leadership skills make him a tremendous asset to VIA Motors as we ramp up production and work more closely with OEMs,” said co-founder and former CEO Kraig Higginson, who will continue serving on VIA’s board of directors.
“I am thrilled to be a part of VIA’s team and work with a company that I truly believe is transforming the industry,” said Weber. “We have seen new technology revolutionize communications, information and medicine. It is now time to reap the benefits of electrification by manufacturing affordable, practical and reliable full-size electric vehicles for the mass market.”
VIA presented Weber’s appointment as a key part of its transition from the development phase to full-scale production. Remy is a key supplier to VIA, and the two companies have been working together under a joint development agreement since 2011.
Prior to working with Remy, Weber held executive positions at several companies. including GE, Allied Signal, McKinsey, Honeywell and Shell.
