Manitou electrifies two construction-telehandler prototypes with DEUTZ drive systems

Handling equipment specialist Manitou Group has modified two construction telehandler prototypes to include DEUTZ electric and hybrid-drive systems. The two companies have collaborated on this project as part of Cologne’s ELECTRIP Event Week. Manitou is E-DEUTZ’s first-ever partner.

For the hybrid prototype, the partners took a Manitou MT 1335 and swapped its 75 kW DEUTZ TCD 3.6 diesel engine for a 55 kW DEUTZ TCD 2.2 system and a 20 kW electric motor (its electric system uses 48 V).  The fully-electric Manitou MT 1135 telehandler prototype has a 360 V vehiclepower supply, a 60 kW electric motor and a 30 kWh capacity battery.

“It is the first full electric construction telehandler prototype that we realized thanks to DEUTZ, and we are proud to work in this explorative phase with a confident supplier. This telehandler enables Manitou to enhance our existing hybrid and electric ranges. Innovation is really a part of Manitou Group’s DNA, and electrification allows us to match our CSR approach and our customers’ expectations,” says Manitou CEO Michel Denis.
