Ube Industries and Mitsubishi Chemical form electrolyte JV in China

Ube Industries and Mitsubishi Chemical have agreed to form a joint venture to supply electrolyte to the Chinese market. The JV will enable the two companies to combine their production technologies and to use their technology resources, including intellectual property, to enhance cost competitiveness.

Ube Industries manufactures Purelyte electrolyte at a factory in Japan and another in China. Annual production capacity is 10,000 tons in Japan and 5,000 tons in China.

Mitsubishi Chemical manufactures Sol-Rite electrolyte at plants in Japan, China, England and the US. Annual production capacity is 13,500 tons at the Japanese plant, and 10,000 tons at each of the other three.
