Nobina, a large public transit operator in Sweden and the Nordic region, has ordered an additional 13 BYD eBuses. The new 12-meter models will serve the town of Piteå in the northeast of Sweden, just south of the Arctic Circle—the most northerly location in Europe where BYD’s buses have operated to date.
The new buses will be manufactured at BYD’s facility in Komárom, Hungary, and are to be delivered in the summer of 2021.
Nobina already operates 125 BYD buses in Sweden, in 9 different towns and cities. The agency has over 160 BYD eBuses now on order or in operation, including 44 vehicles in service in Norway and Denmark.
More than 1,300 BYD eBuses are now in operation or on order with transit operators across Europe.
“After more than 5 years and over 7 million kilometers driven with BYD eBuses in Nordic conditions, we feel confident about the BYD platform meeting the high demands of reliable, sustainable and attractive public transport,” said Nobina Group Fleet Manager Jens Råsten.
