onsemi’s EliteSiC powers Xiaomi’s YU7 800 V drive platform

Select YU7 electric SUV models from Chinese automaker Xiaomi feature an advanced 800 V drive platform powered by US chipmaker onsemi’s EliteSiC M3e technology.

onsemis says its EliteSiC M3e platform enables automakers to design smaller, lighter, and more robust EV traction systems. Integrating the technology into the traction inverter enables the platform to achieve higher performance and power density while reducing overall system cost and supporting longer driving ranges.

EliteSiC’s low on-resistance enables peak power delivery within a smaller footprint for faster acceleration.

“onsemi’s EliteSiC technology delivers efficiency, power density and thermal performance, enabling the development of electric vehicles with longer range, faster acceleration and greater reliability,” said Simon Keeton, President of onsemi’s Power Solutions Group. “Our silicon carbide technology is redefining what’s possible in next-generation electric mobility.”
